An Industry-Leading Conferece

The Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition (ATCE) is known as one of the leading conferences in the oil and gas industry.

Held in Amsterdam, it brought together 7,500 industry professionals and 350 exhibitors from around the world. This marked only the second time the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) hosted this event outside of the U.S. and the start of a formal rotation to take ATCE to various international locations.

Freeman was chosen for this project early on, thanks to our 20-plus-year history with SPE and detailed knowledge of how the conference is executed in the U.S. With an office in London and access to a breadth of integrated solutions across the Freeman enterprise, we hit the ground running with recommendations for creative differentiators.

Blending People, Service, and Technology

Priority number one was to make this a high-touch experience for both the client and exhibitors. We deployed Freeman customer service representatives on a global scale in order to provide real-time, local responses.

Because exhibiting internationally can present some unique challenges, the customer service team proactively reached out to all exhibitors to ensure they were appropriately supported. We also developed an SPE-branded web portal that linked all service providers – including Freeman resources and third parties – into a single customer access point for maximum client and exhibitor convenience.

A True Partnership

Throughout the planning and execution, we worked closely with the venue to ensure the event went off without a hitch. From a production perspective, Freeman Audio Visual leveraged their long-term experience with ATCE while skillfully incorporating locally accepted practices as they provided exceptional support for the opening general session, technical sessions, luncheons, and awards dinner. Freeman’s proprietary Presentation Management system ensured seamless delivery of all content.

To add to an already spectacular ATCE, we held the awards dinner at the historic Beurs van Berlage building, with entertainment provided by outstanding local talent, allowing the culture and history of Amsterdam to truly shine.

The success of the event rested in our ability to carry through on our promises, bring diverse resources together, and create maximum impact. SPE had sought a single-source solution with international reach, and we showed there is nothing quite like the Freeman enterprise in the market today – solidifying our relationship as a true partnership.
