Driving Global Innovation Through IP

Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS) protects intellectual property and turns ideas into monetisable assets. The Global Symposium on IP-driven Innovation is a critical event in elevating Singapore’s profile and its IP industry. IPOS wanted to position Singapore as the leading future IP hub of Asia for the protection and monetisation of IP assets and raise Singapore’s profile for IP internationally. IPOS partnered with FreemanXP to design and grow IP Week @ SG as the premier IP Conference in Asia.

Designing the Definitive Industry Conference

The aspirational Marina Bay Sands was selected as the venue to attract international delegates, speakers, and Singaporeans. The must-attend conference provided a platform for international and local delegates to conduct business, announce new deals, share insights, and network with industry thought leaders.

Close collaboration allowed the team to maximise the appeal of IP Week @ SG  by designing an outstanding event programme with a world-class speaker lineup. The Global Symposium on IP-driven Innovation comprised Main Plenary, Business & Legal Dual tracks, the EcoSystem Fair, WIPO IP Awards, a Gala Dinner, 15 Symposium Sessions, and 12 open public presentations. 

Maximising Appeal with Programming & Marketing

The theme of innovation resonated throughout the extensive and diverse programme.

The Symposium was opened by high-profile Guest of Honour Ms. Indranee Rajah, SC, Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Law and Ministry of Finance. The event featured the highest number of renowned speakers ever brought together for IP Week @SG, including Francis Gurry, Director General, World Intellectual Property Organization. Delegate appeal was further increased through a CPD Professional Accreditation.

An integrated marketing campaign was created to drive attendance and create buzz, comprising SEM and digital programmatic campaigns, eDM’s, flyers, outdoor, partner marketing, social media, and PR. Channel News Asia was appointed the Official Media Partner and covered the event on social media and the internet to further amplify the reach, branding, and impact of IP Week @ SG.  A bespoke IP Week @ SG app was designed for delegates to customise an agenda networking plan. Each attendee was able to craft a personalised event experience targeted to meet individual goals and objectives.

Putting Singapore On The Map

The Global Symposium attracted 1,200 delegates of 35 nationalities, with every major industry sector represented.  Delegates exceeded KPI’s by +20%, and previous years' achievements by +240%.

The web design engaged the target audience via nearly 25,000 web sessions from Singapore and internationally.  Metrics showed a direct correlation among the digital marketing campaign and the click through rates (CTR) and web traffic to the IP Week @ SG web site for registration.

The strategically designed digital SEM campaign exceeded industry benchmarks for search impressions and CTR. Varied digital advertising copy, which was monitored for effectiveness, helped to maximise target audience engagement.

The CRM campaign also attracted new delegates and further strengthened the IPOS proprietary database for the following year. Media coverage also helped  to increase brand awareness for  IP Week @ SG, whilst reinforcing it as Asia’s premier IP event both now and in future.
